As of the twentieth century the art of engraving on mirrors is propelled towards renewal.

Examples of the most famous pieces of furniture in which mirrors are particularly evident appear between the '20s and the' 40s, a period marked by what is generally called Art Deco; eclectic and fickle - capable of undertaking different connotations from country to country and from architect to architect - founded upon a marked liking for decorative shapes geometric matrix and stylised figurative expressions.

In some cases the aesthetics influence from avant-garde art such as Futurism, Neoclassicism, Modernism and Cubism can be perceived.

Among the designers who experiment more within the art of engraved mirrors are Serge Roche, Pierre Dariel, Jacques - Émile Rhulmann (in France) and Gio Ponti (in Italy).
