Sub Umbra Collection
The union of light and shadow
Capturing the shifting nature of black
Sub Umbra Collection is a testament to Arte Veneziana’s mastery of glass engraving, where craftsmanship meets abstraction, and technique becomes a language of light.
Through Sub Umbra, Tristan Auer composes a space that is both structured and elusive, where design is not only seen but sensed.

A play of profundity and reflections
Each object of the collection is a play of profundity and reflections and tries to capture the shifting nature of black, its transparencies, its gleams, its way of holding light while letting it slip away.
Black is a vibration. Like graphite on paper, it carries both depth and luminosity. Pressed lightly, it veils the surface in soft shadow.
Pressed firmly, it catches the light, turning almost silver, reflective, alive. Lines emerge, dissolve, reappear, traces of movement and rhythm.
This black is not static, it is a texture, a density, a material in constant transformation.

Sub Umbra
Black must be respected. Nothing can corrupt it: it does not appeal to the eye, it does not awaken any sensuality. It is an instrument of the intellect, far more than the beautiful color of the palette or the prism.Odilon Redon

Paris
An interior and emotion architect, Tristan Auer designs beautifully sensual and singular interiors.
His extremely rich and aesthetic vision finds its finest expression in vibrant col-our, lights and era mixes. From the Hôtel de Crillon and the Bains-Douches in Paris, to the prestigious works in private houses in London and New York, all the way to Moustique Is-land, he operates with the style of a stage director, his client being both the main actor in his screenplay and his accomplice in this on-going quest for elegance. As an ambassador of a certain French “art de vivre”, Tristan Auer combines his very modern vision with arts and crafts excellence to give a new definition of contemporary luxury.
Tristan Auer grew up in Aix-en-Provence. After graduating at ESAG-Penninghen, he joined forces with the Christian Liaigre team, and then Philippe Starck before he went on starting his own interior design firm in Paris in 2002.
